3 Bedroom House in Isle La Motte
Discover the beauty of Isle La Motte from this 3-bedroom modern home that sits on a large lawn and your own private beach. Cook in an open kitchen, eat in a screened porch as the sun drops on the lake, then send the kids up to the game room loft for ping pong and games. Guests enjoy three king beds and two twin beds, perfect for families or groups. The three bathrooms feature both bathtubs and showers, making mornings and evenings easy and comfortable. With heating and AC, the home stays just right no matter the season. Step inside this wonderful space and feel right at home. We think our place will help you experience everything Isle La Motte has to offer.
The great room rises two full stories to a peak with pine ceilings and a triangular gable window that throws light across the room all afternoon. Below it, a wall of sliding glass opens onto the screened porch and, past that, a sweep of lawn, shade trees, and open water. Late in the day the sun goes down behind the Adirondacks and the entire room turns gold.
**The porch is the best room in the house.**
It runs the full lake side of the home — a long table for every meal, rockers and lounge chairs facing the water, a gas fire table for the cool end of the evening, and screens so you can sit out at dusk in July without a single mosquito. Most guests end up eating out here every night.
**A three-bedroom house that lives like a much bigger one.**
Six guests, and far more room than six people normally get. The cathedral great room, the screened porch, and the loft are three separate places to be — so a family can spread out, or two couples can have entirely different evenings under the same roof.
The open kitchen has full-size appliances, a dishwasher, generous counter space, and windows over the sink looking out to the lawn — real cooking space, which matters here, because there is no restaurant on the island and the nearest grocery is a drive. The kitchen is fully stocked with pans, plates, utensils, cups, and cooking utensils, and is ready to make a feast. Basic cooking supplies such as salt, pepper, and olive oil are provided.
The **main-floor primary suite** faces the lake through its own sliding door, with a king bed, a spa-style en-suite (double vanity, big walk-in tile shower with a bench), and a full walk-in closet, with hanging space and drawers, so a week's worth of gear doesn't live in a suitcase.
The second bedroom faces the lake with its own sliding door and deck, king bed, and closet.
Upstairs is a loft bedroom and game room that overlooks the great room and the lake beyond. **This is the room that makes the house work for families:** full-size ping pong, foosball, rocking chairs along the rail, and space to spread out. It's the rainy-day room, the kids' room, and even has a desk for working while viewing the lake.
**Outside**, the lawn is mowed and has room to play — cornhole, badminton, a game of catch, or just a chair at the water's edge. The shore always in front of you. We have a canoe that is available upon request, and feel free to bring your paddleboards or kayaks and launch straight from the beach.
**Four seasons**
- **Summer** is the headline: warm water from mid-July, sunset past 8:30 in June, and the quietest island in the chain.
- **Fall** is the local secret. Because the lake moderates the temperature, the Champlain Islands turn *later* than the mountains — so you can drive an hour east to catch peak color at Smugglers' Notch one week, then watch it arrive out your own window the next. Peak here runs roughly the first two weeks of October.
- **Winter** is for people who want the lake to themselves: ice fishing on Carry Bay and Missisquoi Bay, snowmobiling the Alburgh trails, and a warm house with a long view over frozen water. Skiing in Stowe, Jay Peak, and Smugglers' Notch are day trips.
- **Spring** brings maple sugaring, the first open water, and Missisquoi's migrating waterfowl.
**Where you are.** Isle La Motte is the smallest and quietest of the Champlain Islands, reached by a single bridge. There's no traffic, no crowds, and essentially no commerce — which is the entire appeal. On the island itself: St. Anne's Shrine, and the Chazy Fossil Reef, a 480-million-year-old National Natural Landmark you can walk across on marked trails. Flat, empty roads make the ten-mile island loop one of the best easy bike rides in New England.
Burlington is a great waterfront city about an hour away. Stowe is an hour and a half and provides a quaint mountain town, great hiking trails, and ski in the winter. Montreal is about an hour and a half plus the border. Bring passports — the day trip is worth it. Also about an hour away in New York is Ausable Chasm, a fun day trip for white water rafting/tubing, excellent trails, and multiple waterfalls.
